In our world today, we hear about many different issues from other places, far away or nearer to home. For example, the debate over the Mosque being built in New York City, or the Taliban causing trouble in Afghanistan. Both problems don’t always portray certain things in a good light, like the Islamic religion. However, maybe if we took a few steps back and let ourselves see the larger picture, we might be able to get a different view of Islam, and how it really isn’t that much different than Christianity.

If asked where the words, “O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary,” were from, many would say The Bible. However, the words are actually found in part 3:45 of the Qu’ran, according to www.experiencefestival.com. In addition, the Qu’ran tells of Moses, and tells the reader that Muslims, Jews, and Christians worship the same God.

Likewise, both holy books also contain parts against other religions. The book of Genesis, part 12:3 in The Bible says, “Whoever curses you I will curse,” and verse 72:15 of the Qu’ran tells us, “The disbelievers are the firewood of hell.” I think it’s pretty easy to tell that Christianity, as well as Islam, can be seen in a negative light.

The more regrettable parts of the holy Scriptures don’t need to matter though. The not-so-good parts of the Qu’ran are easily ignored by many good Muslims, like many not-so-good parts of The Bible are in Christianity. I think that as long as they are loving and kind, both a Muslim and a Christian can peacefully coincide.
